The multipurpose Alltel Arena in Little Rock, AR was in October 1999. The arena has a lot to a series of events, sports and be different. Exhibitions, concerts, conventions, car racing, wrestling, rodeos and circuses - the arena has hosted them all. History
In August 1995, the Pulaski County, Arkansas approved the construction of a multipurpose arena. Of the two sites in North Little Rock, the Multipurpose Civic Center Facilities Board of Pulaski County, visited in 1996, opted for the 19,5 ha of land compared to the 11.6-acre site near the Broadway Bridge. Instrumental in the design of the arena were the Civic CenterDesign Team (CCDT), consisting of Burt Taggart & Associates, Architects / Engineers, the Wilcox Group, Garver & Garver Engineering and Rosser International of Atlanta.
Costing $ 83 million to build, were the contributions made by local, state and private institutions. The State of Arkansas, contributed 20 million dollars and private sources contributed 17 million U.S. dollars. A contribution of 7 million U.S. dollars was made for the naming rights to the Arena, the Alltel Corporation, headquartered in Little Rock. The 35,000Square-Arena opened to the public in 1999.
The arena was the home of the Trojans of the University of Arkansas from the date of the Alltel Arena opened up the team into a new stadium in 2005. The arena was also home to the now defunct ice hockey team - the Arkansas River Blades of the ECHL (formerly East Coast Hockey) League.
